Something I wanted to share
I just thought I'd share this little film I found on Youtube.
It's Werner Herzog eating a shoe. Brilliant.
Personally, I'm going for a curry now, but I'll be thinking about why Werner decided to eat shoe while I have my dinner.
Enjoy.

Hello? Is there anybody out there?
After another bout of being away from desk and generally up to the proverbial eyeballs in work I am back at Sigma HQ and delighted to be home. Absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder (even if my presence may well have been out of sight out of mind) and to be back in the bosom of my filmmaking family is indeed a lovely thing.

Download this voucher, print it out and get 40% off any wine in Threshers. Don't get too drunk though.
I've been off working for Hugh and Stormhoek (they're responsible for the booze voucher above) as well as scheming with various interesting people in London and Glasgow. World domination? It's too early to tell but there are definitely interesting things afoot.
In the meantime I have some more great music for you aural pleasure. There is so much talent on the internet that it seems mindless to use the stuff I hear on the radio in my films. Plus there is a certain sense of enjoyment from finding up and coming artists and working with them first - 'I knew them before they were famous blah blah blah'. So in exchange for a little publicity, and a little wine in the case of people who provided music for the Stormhoek jobs, I have been using music from artists I have found online.
I should also add that I have not been doing this alone, my good friend Robin Pigott has helped enormously by doing some of the research for me. So a big thanks to Robin.
Here are some links so you can go find these folks for yourselves:
As for news on Hallam Foe, well, this is inevitably a quiet period so far as fun stuff is concerned, the gap between finishing the film and it coming out at the cinema is hardly a news worthy part of the proceedings. However, I am reacquainting myself with the goings on in the office and should hopefully be able to report back with some snippets of goss in the morning.

Shameless Begging
As ever I am trying to get the jump on something at the moment. Something wholly relevant to the work of this blog and the future of filmmaking.
I'm talking about Joost TV.
It feels like the world of online tv has been a long time coming, like we've been waiting for the inevitable demise of our staple diet of terrestrial tele (I watch a lot and despise 90% of it). Now I am definitely not predicting au revoir to traditional broadcasting behemoths, but certainly the end is nigh for tv as we know it. Even if we are still going to be using actual televisions to watch our movies / dramas / docs / sketch shows yadda yadda yadda, the most interesting thing to me is how we are going to choose what we watch.

Joost TV
I mean, scheduling will be totally up to you. No more checking the guide or text services, simply surf for genre and format and you're done. But probably more important than that is going to be word of mouth - or word of mouse (sorry, couldn't resist). Clicking the links of our favoured pundits is already our mode of navigation for all things net and the idea that this will be applicable to tv viewing in totally direct sense is truly superb. I've had a brief look at Joost TV and it's an amazing thing.
This is where the shameless begging bit comes in - I am looking for an invitation to join the JoostTV beta gang. So if anyone feels like inviting a blogger keen to get the jump on the next big thing then email colin@hallamfoe.co.uk with an invite and I'll start expanding my world, and hopefully other peoples too.
We live in exciting times - welcome to the beautiful nightmare.

Coming home (in style)
Not perturbed by yesterdays dreadful train crash on the west coast line (a train I had planned to be on earlier in the week) I am travelling from London to Glasgow returning to my desk.
All in I feel pretty spoilt. It ain't the Orient Express but a cheap upgrade to 1st class furnishes me with hot tea and biscuits on demand, internet connection and a kind of compartment all to myself. If you have to travel with a hangover this is a pretty good way of doing it. (Last night was my last night in London and the end of our shoot so Hugh and I went out and drank like a couple of hobos gatecrashing a methylated spirits convention, natch.)
Just to fill you in: I have been on a kind of blogging sabbatical as some of you will know, working with Hugh Macleod and Stormhoek, the South African vineyard that is his going concern. We've been travelling round the country making little films of his experiences on the road as he pimps his wine and goes in search of that special someone.
You can watch all the mini-movies at www.stormhoek.com and the final episode will be out this week.
The good news is that as well shooting stuff for Hugh I also have a bit of footage from Berlin that I got while I was out there at the première. I thought I'd try and cut it into some form of montage / flavour of the night type thingy during the week. I should have something for you soon, apologies for the delay.
P.S. It's nice to be back by the way x

Roadtrip
Some of you who are keen blog readers will know that I am currently away on a tour round the UK with Hugh Macleod. This explains the lack of posts here on getyourpeople for the last week or so.
We are aiming to make 14 films in as many days so I am working every waking hour at the moment and that leaves little to no room for my other duties/projects. My apologies for that. I have recemtly updated the comments though and will still be going to Berlin and covering the Hallam Foe premiere.
Normal service will resume shortly, please do not adjust your set.
Meanwhile, here's a video of our latest efforts:
Day 2 - Big Love Roadtrip
I's really like to thank Pablo Eskimo for letting me use their music on our little experiment and also Robin Pigott for doing the music research

Word on the Street
Something is afoot.
There is a buzz in the office. A proper buzz. The phone is ringing off the hook. Gillian is in and out of her office, whispering in Anna and Brian's ears while they're on the phone and it looks like we're going to be bringing David back from his holiday in Kenya.
I'll let you know what's happening as soon as the news breaks.
