Ed Film Fest '07

You all know that Hallam Foe will open the 61st Edinburgh Film Festival. Yesterday was the press launch for the whole thing so I went along to watch David (Mackenzie) and Sophia (Myles) strut their stuff and also grab a couple of interviews of my own.

It was a great day and we are all very excited about going the whole thing.

Here's a vid of Hannah McGill (Artistic Director of the festival) talking about this year's festival: EIFF TV

Shout it from the rooftops

It's official, the world's worst kept secret is out...
...Hallam Foe will be opening the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The announcement was made today by the festivals Artistic Director,
Hannah McGill:

“'Hallam Foe’ is a stunning achievement by all concerned - a film with an unforgettable atmosphere and some of the finest performances of the year. We're enormously proud to have the film open what we anticipate to be a landmark film festival."

I hardly need to point out that this is obviously a blindingly exciting little time bomb I've been sitting on for quite some time, even if many of you will no doubt have been quietly waiting for the rumours to be confirmed. (In fact I do remember when we announced the release date someone commented asking if we would be going to Edinburgh).

Obviously this whole thing has as a sentimental aspect for the Family Foe: we had a great time shooting in Edinburgh, the film was conceived there too and at a time when David Mackenzie and Peter Jinks were becoming friends; so there is a very real sense of things coming full circle, things have kind of clicked into place.

Now I don't want to paint too much of a magical picture, there is a lot of work going on behind the proverbial curtain and whatever happens at the festival there has been no wand waving going, just hard graft on the part of the EIFF and BVI and a whole host of others that will be revealed as we get closer to the event. So I won't indulge my natural tendency to romanticise too much.

Roll on the 15th August - Hallam Foe UK Premiere
!!!!!!MONSTER MONSTER MONSTER MONSTER PARTY!!!!!!

ADDENDUM:

Well I might have guessed that my thoroughly unoriginal blog title would turn out to be shared with someone else obviously not working hard enough, the Scotsman have posted an article about the film entitled the same, check it out
