New location shots

Yesterday I received some new shots from Anna Robbins, our Costume Assistant on the film. As well as working tirelessly on the production from start to finish she also came out with us on the days we shot second unit. These are her stills from the days we were on the rooftops...

One of the things I love about filmmaking is the opportunity to go to places that most people don't on a daily basis, even if it's on your doorstep. Being up on the rooftops of Edinburgh was a luxury, and for once we had the weather on our side so you could see right across the city.

And of course, another of my favourite things about filmmaking - cool boxes with brilliant bits of engineering in them...

Beckett's Last Stand

In the past I have occassionally mentioned that I am a filmmaker in my own right and that I am currently trying to make a film about the dying days of Samuel Beckett (fabulous script written by Eddie Harrison).

Latest developments on this front are that I am working with a fantastic talent, known to some of you, Lee Thomas of Lunar films, on trying to find the necessary to make the film.

I am very interested in finding a way of shooting the film using the real Mr. Beckett, compositing various pieces of archive footage and treating the results with a rotoscoped effect, much in the vein of De Fem benspænd (Jorgen Leth), Obstruction 4 - Cartoon. I have posted an excerpt of it below, I seriously advise getting hold of this film, it's fantastic.

I think that's pretty much all I can say about this at the moment, next step is to get talking to animators.
