Hallam Foe triumphs with the Fipresci in Motovun
As the more adventurous readers of our blog have noted, helegis I'm looking at you, Hallam Foe picked up the FIPRESCI award at Motovun. Essentially being the film which the critics in attendance decided to award as their best in show.
From Motovun's site, a description of the Fipresci's organisation:
Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique – the oldest and most prestigious association of film critics with members from around 50 countries of the world. The association's award, given by its international film critics juries, gained exceptional popularity among film authors.
The night was sultry. Here producer Gillian Berrie, Jamie Bell and David Mackenzie took to the stage to collect the award.

I noticed that the Hallam Foe had won this award, which is one I have not come across before, so thanks for the information.
Many congratulations David and all involved in HF. I am sure the award is well-deserved!
I'm looking forward to seeing the film for myself in two weeks when it opens Edinburgh International Film Festival!

Hi Lee,
Congratulations! The ‘International Federation of Film Critics’-award for HF: the movie clearly strikes a chord with an international audience. So crack open the champagne and use the opportunity to give HF the razzmatazz it deserves, making it an international success.
David Mackenzie clearly joins the ranks of distinctive directors, Jamie Bell the ranks of great actors. With HF they really deserve to win the ‘Summer of British Film 2007’ organised by the UK Film Council and the BBC.
See you!

Oh my god what wonderful news! Congratulations everyone - you must be so thrilled! So was I, incidentally, when I managed to blag my way into a preview screening in Cardiff today *Hooray*! I didn't manage to win one in the various promotions but decided to turn up anyway and spotted someone giving out a few spares: what luck! Turned out the 'invited guests Q&A' was canceled and I knew why: you guys are still gallivanting round Eastern Europe! Huh! I can hardly blame you, though: the photos on the festival's website look totally amazing - you get a feel for what the atmosphere must have been like: lucky you to be taking it all in and then to walk away with a prize to top it all!
But *Wow* what a great film, I know I'm biased but even if I try and step back, objectively it is still a wonderful film: funny, upbeat but also really moving and tender with great songs! Plus it features my favourite city so I was going to love it in any case! --> bring on Edinburgh in 2 weeks' time :o)!! WooHoo
Cheeriooo
Kim
PS I spotted you in the cafe, Colin!
