Franz chat for the Record

dr2logo.gif

Fellow movie-blogger Sue Upton very kindly sent me this article she spotted in the Glasgow Daily Record. I have been following some other news too and should be able to bring you a piece from BBC6 later today. This is available on the BBC site, but they don't actually get round to talking to Alax Kapranos until about 2hrs into the program and then it cuts out. This is quite frustrating when you have been listening to it for the express purpose of trying to pinch a soundbite. Karma stepping in on the theft issue there perhaps.

Anyway, it would seem that the article link below stems from a combination of info gleaned from that radio show and our blog anyway.

Franz Ferdinand article

It's not so surprising to see something about Hallam Foe in the Glasgow press, particularly when linked to FF. Word is defintely going global though and there is now a post in Russian on one of our main commenters blogs, Helegis. Maybe we could get a translation?

Hallam Foe, a film by David Mackenzie starring Jamie Bell

Hi Colin
Err.. since my blog is just a private blog, like MySpace, for example, so this post is not actually about the production of Hallam Foe and is mostly about me and relates to my comment on that video, posted here.. But if you insist I'll try... /By the way, sometimes I do wright something about HF production, but all in all it's always based on the information you give us here, so it never contains anything new... And if there is a discussion, usually it's not about the production process.. - Somehow people are not interested in dialect coaching, for example, as much as I am.. But in case if you need to translate something into Russian, I could help. I don't thing it could be useful, though. lol/
Pardon my English and I don't think you have to unscreen this comment since it's just an explanation.
Here's the translation.
'Some people here were saying I'm a cynical bitch with keen sense of humour, but dudes.. that's just because I really am .. For example here's a bit of video of AN ACTOR (I must say, almost all of my readers know I'm a DM's fan and that I'm waiting for the MOVIE, and that I'm a commenter HERE, and that I've even made up a nickname for Colin Kennedy, which is, fortunately, untranslatable into English. So they understand that 'AN ACTOR' means Jamie Bell starring in Hallam Foe) climbing up the wall. It's just a moment of training and seems like it's a climbing center for the kids - flowers on the walls, bright colours etc. And then on the left of mr. Bell I notice a little boy who is also climbing up the wall..
I thought to myself that a spot of dark phylosophy could be found in that. And a bit of comedy. I really think it's interesting and funny, when you find something serious and even 'global' in small things. And I'd written a comment here about 'Mean people holding you on a leash and making you climb up the wall (It remained me a David Bowie's song 'Jump They Say', I'm not sure why). And you climb and climb... And there is always somebody younger and prettier than you, with sharper teeth, who is climbing beside just in case you fall down'. Perhaps, it's not a very interesting thought to you, but to me it's been 'the sarcastic thought of the day'.

..Well, actually, I was planning to post something REALLY informative about DM and HF for those of my friends who could be interested in watching a movie like that, but not so found of all that stuff as to become regular readers of this wonderful blog of yours.. When it's done, I'll give you the URL, if you wish...

Great stuff. Well if you have any questions I'm more than happy to put them to DM for you. In fact, he reads this everyday so you could just leave questions here and I'm sure he'll reply himself.

Oh.. questions for DM?! I really have some - I'm a student, so I always have lots of more or less stupid questions.. I hadn't noticed your reply here(there's no notification for the blog readers, so you have to check manually, but there are so many new interesting posts, so I didn't even think to take a look here), otherwise I would have asked already... Now it's a bit late and I'm gonna go home and sort all the things in my head out, but tomorrow I really hope to put some questions. It would be very kind of DM to answer any of them..
